Many are calling them unusable; the platforms still won't do anything about it.
The prevalence of dropshippers flooding these platforms with poor-quality, counterfeit, and misrepresented products has eroded trust and ruined the online shopping experience for a lot of people. Users have been left sifting through a sea of dubious listings—I've personally been duped into buying unethically-produced, plastic-ridden items presenting themselves as local, handmade, or even 'vintage'.
At this point, everyone who shops online has been tricked at least once into paying a high-quality price for a low-quality product—even if they never even realized it. Yet despite a rising outcry from users, resale platforms themselves have been slow to crack down on sellers like these (even despite the anti-dropshipping policies outlined in their Terms of Service). Well, the seller fees generated from these scams most likely make up a huge portion of their revenue, and putting a stop to them would probably mean a loss of profit.
tradeu is different because it's a transparent platform free from the noise. By implementing a vetting process and actively preventing dropshippers from operating on the platform altogether, we aim to elevate the standard of quality in the online resale landscape. For genuine sellers who have been overshadowed by fraudulent practices, we want to offer a space to connect with discouraged eco-conscious buyers. Most importantly, our platform empowers users with the tools and information they need to make informed purchases. Sign up for free.
